PLOT AND EXPLORE

PLOT AND EXPLORE
Welcome to the plot page! Here we will list current obstacles that can be overcome to gain access to new areas and plot items that need to be addressed.
If you have questions in developing your approach or are looking for clarification, please leave a comment here!
While we encourage cooperation, we understand that multiple different groups/people may want to go about solving the same plot different ways. Plots that more than one character/group can claim will be designated as such. These plots will have a 'claim up to' date to allow multiple claims. On that date, all requests will be processes.
There is a chance this is not always a comprehensive list! If you can think of a different direction you want to take your character in, please post a comment here with what you're thinking of.
For each plot you'd like to claim, follow these steps:
Copy and paste the form at the bottom of the page
Fill out the information
Title the comment with the name of the explore or plot challenge
Post it under either under the 'explore' or 'plot' top comment
CURRENT BLOCKADES TO BE OVERCOME:
Overseers Offices / Entrance Door
These are two plots, but as the solutions are similar are lumped together. The doors leading to the room labeled Overseers Office or Entrance are both currently sealed shut. Terminals are located to the side of each door. Impressive hacking skills or powerful force will be needed to open these doors. MULTIPLE PEOPLE/TEAMS MAY CLAIM THIS PLOT.
CURRENT TASKS TO BE PERFORMED:
Computer Terminal Reading
All the terminals in the vault now have power. Spread around different rooms, some of these terminals have simple password protections (and possible searching near a few terminals will find the password) while others are easily accessible. What new information can be gained from going through the logs? Please include what room the terminal your character is accessing is in.MULTIPLE PEOPLE/TEAMS MAY CLAIM THIS PLOT.

Re: OTHER PLANS
Plan of action: After powering the bunker, opening the overseer's door and encountering the Gutsy unit and passing inspection; Saya plans to spend a great deal of time going over any relevant information that can be accessed from the terminals she now has access to including whatever her clearance provided by the Mr. Gutsy gave her.
Relevant threads: Opening the Overseers door and encountering the Mr. Gutsy.
Additional information: Saya still has the tools given to her by Yun should she need to do some work on the terminals. Other than that, whatever technical knowledge she has and has learned through investigating this new place.
no subject
In the terminals within the dormitory/civilian area there are mostly fragments of personal journals, while in the laboratory area she can kind find more fragments of lab notes from the scientists. With her hacking, we can say she can access and fully check a terminal per day, as some data will need reconstructing. Or she can rush a bit and get only readily available data at the rate of 2-3 per day. The terminals available are:
Male dorm terminal
Female dorm terminal
Maintenance room (she will have to wait for Nick to be gone for this one)
Testing area observation 1
Testing area observation 2
Testing area observation 3
Where would she like to start?
no subject
For priority's sake, I'll denote what she would focus on and trickle down from there on her list barring any changes due to events occuring around the Vault.
Maintenance Room (Whenever she has a chance to, she'll focus on this one first.) While waiting on opportunities to continue working on this one, she'll go down this path:
Testing 1 > Female Dorm > Testing 2 > Male Dorm > Testing 3.
Testing 1
Only one non-corrupted entry is able to be opened.
Subject pool has begun displaying increased agitation following temporary escape of subject 002-03. Prolonged increased baseline sympathetic nervous system activity may be detrimental to future trials. Virus modifications have not accounted for resulting alterations in immunoresponse. I’ve suggested to the Overseer increased monitoring of baseline health of subject pool through routine medical examinations. An excuse of a newfound disease in the vault resulting in the state of subject 002-03 and required testing to control for potential exposure should quiet the pool for a time, though not forever. We must increase testing speed. We cannot allow this branch of research to be prematurely ended due to a fluke.
When I find out who left that door unsealed I’m going to kill them.
Reconstructed data. These were previously corrupted, but with work reconstructed.
Subject remained coherent until time of death. Cause of death: self-inflicted injury. Levels of aggression increased to unanticipated heights; sedatives remained ineffective. Suggests enhanced resistance to chemical exposure in addition to radiation.
A technical success. Pity there’s no one to share the champagne with.
This entry appears to have been written and deleted several times over in addition to corruption, leading to some unrecoverable words in the entry.
Fucking project Rescan. He's going to do it. The Overseer has slowly shifted resources towards their division for weeks and now that asshole's finally getting his way.
[corrupted]
I won’t let it happen. I’ll prove this modification works. With or without the Overseer granting us additional subjects.

Female Dorm
One year. That’s the count down. Anyone can survive a year, right? Right. A year underground with no sun. No sky. No trees. Walls closing in.
It’s only a year. Then Vault-Tec will let us know where we can go, what places survived. They couldn’t have blown up the whole world. Some bombs must have been hit before they could launch and wreck everything. Somewhere must be there. Australia. Or too close to China? Somewhere in Africa. Somewhere hot and sunny. People sailed before atomic power. We could do it again.
Just one year.
This entry was deleted, but had yet to be fully purged from the system.
There haven’t been any bodies. That’s weird, right? Before the war, you would see the body at the funeral. Get to say goodbye or spit in their face one more time. But here it’s just an urn of ashes, same size, color, and shape for everyone. To stop the infection spreading, the doctors say. But not a single body? Not even to look at through a window before they burn it? No one gets to say goodbye. Not while the person is sick, not when they’re dead. They’re just gone one day. Can't even be sure it's not just dust in the urn.
It’s weird. My stomach hurts thinking about it.
God, don’t let me be sick, too.
In the pieced together corrupted data, Saya can clearly see this computer was kept as a general use terminal for the whole dorm. While names attached to the files are unavailable, there are numerous small notes ranging from reminding people the dorm is a shared space: pick up your socks, to making fun of one dorm inhabitant for having a crush on another, to a lecture on how eating sugar bombs in bed is how we get ants. A few odd notes can also be found here and there, wishing a quick recovery to vault members that have gone into the isolation wing for medical treatment and some people calling dibs on various items if the person doesn’t come back (followed by stern notes about how inappropriate that kind of ‘joking’ is, their parents are going to be informed about this).
Re: Female Dorm
Testing 2
Forced evolutionary virus strain c366-43a marked for triage. No improvement in cognition over previous attempts. Potential use for future military application once method of imprinting to allied forces determined. Such an undertaking relatively low priority, but submitted to Overseer for consideration.
We must double our efforts on remaining strains. While vault remains sealed, potential contamination of subject by outside radiation remains possible. Time is of the essence.
One corrupted entry is recovered
Stage one of project Rescan has been registered as a success. Entire scientific team to submit to brains scan protocol ‘as soon as convenient.’ There must be a way to slow it down. This cannot be the solution to preserve our humanity.
Re: Testing 2
Male Dorms
Entry 1
It’s happening tonight. We can’t live this way anymore. Too many disappearances, too many unanswered questions. That creature in the hall. I don’t care what they say, that was no fucking disease. No skin condition. That thing wasn’t human. And nothing from Vault-Tec. No long awaited signal we can leave.
There’s still more of us than them. We just need to take the Overseer office. They scientists can hide in their precious pod room all they like, we’ll get them later.
There’s no choice.
Entry 2
Well fuck.
Entry 3
The final entry is someone’s notes on experimenting with a recipe to recreate the iconic Nuka-Cola beverage. It has many side notes on different combinations of ingredients and some fine ranting about how they are so close, what is the secret. At the end they manage a non-carbonated variant that apparently tastes ‘disappointing’ but has some restorative properties.
Using scrounged sources of sugar and flavoring, characters can now create ‘Mocka-Cola,’ which will increase the body’s natural healing rate a small amount. No where near as potent as a stimpak, it’s still helpful in a pinch and doesn’t require any robot assistance to make/access.
Re: Male Dorms
Testing 3
Subject 004-02. Modified FEV injection appears promising. In contrast to previous attempts, subject has maintained ambulation and some coherence two weeks following exposure. Preliminary data support my previous theory this mutant strain may benefit from continued radiation exposure following acclimation to host. I have requested permission for maintained high radiation levels in testing chamber. Louis remains unconvinced cognition will survive such measures, but I'm certain the overseer will understand the merit of this modified protocol. As he so often likes to say, humanity depends on us.
Saya can reconstruct two additional entries:
Personal Entry. Underwent my brain scan today. The processes appears relatively harmless, despite concerns from other members of the research team. More a personality imprint than anything else. I don’t see it replacing our research as a viable alternative anytime soon. Pretty sure the fact the Overseer’s kid is on that team is why it’s getting such a push. Not that I’m saying that out loud.
And not that that fact matters to a certain co-worker. He refused to undergo the scan, of course. He’s been placed under house arrest until he goes. Dramatic guy, that one. The Overseer is more upset about the chain of command not being respected than any actual damage to the project. But try talking that into his thick head. For a genius, he’s an idiot sometimes. He’s going to sink our projects on his own with these kinds of stunts.
Going to give him a med-X and drag him to the scan room myself if he doesn’t get over it by the end of the week.
Entry 2
Critical notes placed with Overseer. Testing chamber doors sealed. My god, how did it go down hill so fast. I don’t even know how to use a gun.
Re: Testing 3
Maintenance Room
There are several non-corrupted entries in the terminal, all having to do with mundane requests and ‘order received’ notices of vault repair. Reading enough of the repairs, she can piece together a good description of just how the water recycling system works, making future repairs much easier (so long as no new parts are needed, those are all custom Vault-Tec items). Saya will also learn it involves recycling of all ‘waste water’ collected from the bathrooms for re-consumption, meaning she has to live with the knowledge of drinking purified former-urine.
There is a less detailed layout for the air system, but she can get an idea of where the main filter is if that should ever need a repair.
There is one corrupted file she can piece back together.
Four yards of lead and steel between me and success. Father won’t open the door for me. Almost three years since the bombs fell, no word from Vault-Tec, and he still won’t open the damn door. Breach of protocol. Yes, unsealing the Vault will let in radiation, an unknown amount, but those whackos over in project FEV are playing with the stuff like it’s glitter at a bachelorette party anyway. If Rescan is going to be anything more than a back-up drive we need a radio tower. To build a tower we need to get outside. It’s not that damn hard.
But he won’t let me out, even disabled the pip-boy manual override to open the door so I can’t get out without him. Figured that out when he caught me trying to do just that. Got slapped with a week in maintenance as punishment, told me I’m lucky not to be shot for mutiny. Now the project’s even further behind. Great job, dad. Father of the year award winner yet again.
At least everything else is in place. Theoretically. We just need that tower to test it.
